Faial has a long tradition in fishing /spearfishing and it is widely practiced by the local community.

The excellent visibility, water temperature, great diversity of species, and many public places where you can BBQ fish and seafood (more information on “barbecues”), make Faial an ideal place for lovers of this activity.

On the high seas you can also find tuna, marlin, and, at specific times of the year, Wahoo.
